Day 1

Left Norfolk at 9 am Friday, arrived Mysore 7:30 am Sunday local time, 8 pm Norfolk time...lets see, carry the 3, divide by pi, multiply by the time warp...35 hours travel time.  The last 3 1/2 the fun ride from the airport to Mysore, some of you have made that trip.

Speed bumps.  The long road from Bangalore to Mysore is filled with speed bumps to slow the traffic, especially at intersections. Our driver delighted in seeing how fast he could drive, and then hit the brakes with MAXIMUM pressure so get just slow enough going over the speed bump to not lift the rear tires off the ground (while honking, and dodging pedestrians, cows, bicycles, rickshaws and 40 ton trucks)  This is fun (??) IF you are alert and awake...not so much if you are trying to get a nap.

Arrived at the hotel, grabbed breakfast, a quick shower and off to the service.  So good to be greeted by so many friends, of which you remember the names of, maybe, 3.  A great feeling to be welcomed back so warmly.

The service was typical Indian, 2 1/2 hours.  We were all greeted, given flowers.  Most of us stayed awake, some of us.....

After the service, lunch with our hosts, a very quick orientation, and mercifully allowed to go back to the hotel for naps.

Woke up, dark outside, looked at watch, it said 4:30.  Now, my watch has time zones for the entire world, and by fumbling for it must have hit the "change time zone button"...several times.  Don't know where it was 4:30, but it was 7 pm here.  Had dinner, about half the team showed up, the rest were on extended naps.

Today we start at the first school, hope to see around 250 kids today. Looking forward to seeing them again.  Now, must run off to breakfast with the team, more to follow!!
